On Sunday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) firmly dismissed allegations made by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), labeling them as “absolutely false.” The IRGC had claimed that US military strikes targeting its personnel involved in mine-laying activities in the Strait of Hormuz constituted an “act of aggression.” CENTCOM’s swift denial underscores the ongoing tensions in the region and the complexities surrounding military operations in strategic waterways.
In a post on X, CENTCOM said the US forces had taken “limited, precise action” against IRGC minelaying forces that posed an “imminent threat” in the strategically important waterway. This claim is absolutely false,” CENTCOM said. The US military command said the action was aimed at protecting civilian mariners, commercial shipping and the movement of global trade through the Strait of Hormuz.
