NEW YORK — As Black Panther co—founder Bobby Seale nears his 90th birthday, he is set to reissue his 1970 jailhouse memoir “Seize the Time” and follow it up with a new book, “I, Bobby.”

Bobby Seale’s New Memoir ‘I, Bobby’ Complements Reissue of ‘Seize the Time’

Bobby Seale has announced the release of his new memoir, ‘I, Bobby,’ which he describes as a personal completion of his narrative, stating, “Every time somebody tells my story wrong, a piece of the movement gets buried with the lie.” This statement was made on Tuesday through Blackstone Publishing. Seale emphasized that his earlier work, ‘Seize the Time,’ serves as a foundational blueprint for his current reflections, now articulated in his own voice and memory.

The reissue of ‘Seize the Time,’ which had been out of print for several years, will feature an introduction by actor and comedian D.L. Hughley. For the first time, it will also be available in e-book and audio formats.

The Black Panther Party, which Seale co-founded, was once labeled a significant threat by then-FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. The organization reached its peak in the late 1960s but faced decline in the following decade due to internal conflicts and FBI infiltration. Seale departed from the Panthers in the early 1980s, a time when the organization was already disbanding under the leadership of Huey P. Newton.
