The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has launched a new program that permits select individuals to accompany their loved ones through airport security and to the gate. This initiative revives a tradition that has been largely absent for over two decades, as security checkpoints have typically marked the final goodbye for families. The program aims to enhance the travel experience by allowing more personal connections at a time when such interactions have been limited due to security measures.
“I was actually traveling on 9/11 ,” he said. “Gateside by TSA PreCheck provides members with access to the terminal beyond airport security, even when they aren’t flying, according to the TSA. “I definitely understand why they had to change and implement some more stringent security measures. With this new program, it would just be nice to be able to still have all the rigorous screening that you have to go through anyway to travel and know that that’s still there, but then know that you can still go to the gate to say goodbye to your loved one. Just use your KTN to apply and use the same dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes for a smoother entry. Loved ones were allowed to go with travelers to their gates before security restrictions changed after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
