SABBC Aims to Address Trade Imbalance with India
The South African Business and Trade Council (SABBC), established in 2013, is taking proactive steps to enhance trade and investment relations between South Africa and its BRICS partners, notably India. In 2025, India represented 20.8 percent of South Africa’s trade within the BRICS grouping.
To tackle the existing trade imbalance, the SABBC has outlined a strategy that emphasizes higher-value exports, investment partnerships, and a shift from a traditional buyer-seller dynamic to a model focused on co-investment and technology collaboration.
SABBC Chairperson Busi Mabuza highlighted the delegation’s commitment to translating discussions into measurable outcomes. This includes investment facilitation, business matchmaking, and initiatives in key sectors such as energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, and the digital economy.
