A Flash Flood Emergency was issued for parts of northern Knott County, Kentucky, late Thursday. Heavy rainfall triggered life-threatening flooding in multiple communities, including Mousie, Vest, Handshoe and Bolyn.
Law enforcement had already reported flooding on the ground after 2.5 to 4 inches of rain fell across parts of Knott County, according to weather broadcaster Ryan Hall. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for Northern Breathitt County, West Central Floyd County, and Northern Knott County in Eastern Kentucky.
