Abu Dhabi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a meeting with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and exchanged perspectives on bilateral and global issues.

The Indian expatriate community is the largest ethnic community in the UAE, accounting for approximately 35 per cent of the country’s population, according to the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi. The number of resident Indian nationals in the UAE was estimated at 4.3 million in 2024.

In a social media post, Jaishankar said he and Zayed Al Nahyan “exchanged perspectives on bilateral and global issues in the spirit of our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”. Last month, Jaishankar met Zayed Al Nahyan and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York to review the progress in the trilateral cooperation across the agreed areas of mutual interest. They also discussed the situation in West Asia.

Earlier on Wednesday, Jaishankar participated in the 2nd edition of the Raisina Middle East event, where he joined Zayed Al-Nahyan, who is also the deputy prime minister, for a discussion on ‘The World Ahead: Power, Purpose & Possibility’.
