Apple has published a guide explaining how eligible Mac users in mainland China can connect Alibaba’s Qwen artificial-intelligence service to the U.S. tech giant’s Siri digital assistant and Writing Tools feature.
Decline in Mac Shipments in China Amid Market Competition
In the first quarter of this year, Mac shipments in mainland China decreased by 9% year-on-year, totaling approximately 800,000 units. This decline has resulted in Apple holding a 9% share of the PC market. In comparison, Lenovo leads the market with a 31% share, while Huawei is rapidly gaining ground with a 16% share, according to data from Omdia. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Alibaba is restricted from using certain materials to train or enhance its models, as outlined in recent guidelines.
