India A To Play Three Four-Day Matches Against New Zealand A Ahead Of Tests: selection and matchup

India A will tour New Zealand for a three-match four-day red-ball series against New Zealand A from October 24 to November 10, providing the visiting side with valuable preparation ahead of India’s two-Test World Test Championship (WTC) series against the Black Caps. The first four-day game will be played from October 24 to 27, followed by the second from October 31 to November 3 and the third from November 7 to 10.

All three matches will be played at Bert Sutcliffe Oval and Hagley Oval in Christchurch, with the series running concurrently with India’s white-ball tour of New Zealand, according to a media release from New Zealand Cricket.

Implications of the Upcoming Test Series

The upcoming two-Test series between New Zealand and India holds significant importance in the context of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. As it stands, New Zealand is positioned third in the WTC standings, while India follows closely in fifth place.

New Zealand’s schedule includes a tour to Australia in December-January, along with home series against Sri Lanka and an away series against Pakistan. In contrast, India is set to host Australia for a five-Test series spanning January and February, marking the conclusion of their commitments in the current WTC cycle.
