Sindhu Advances After Victory, Reflects on Kohli’s Guidance
P.V. Sindhu showcased her skill in the opening round of the women’s singles, defeating Ireland’s Sophia Noble with a commanding score of 21-7, 21-11 in just 29 minutes. This victory propels her into the Round of 32.
In a recent conversation, Sindhu expressed gratitude towards Indian cricket star Virat Kohli, who provided her with valuable advice during a challenging period in her career. She recalled how Kohli encouraged her to focus on competing rather than obsessing over the results, emphasizing the importance of simply showing up and playing her game.
“He asked me to show up, anywhere and for anything, and just play my game. What would happen? You are not going to lose anything; you know what you are, how you have trained, and show the world who you are,” Sindhu noted. This exchange, she said, significantly shifted her perspective on competition.
Sindhu also highlighted the positive impact of her interactions with Kohli, stating, “Whenever I win, I just share my happiness, saying that you know I have won this or that, and recently I met him, so it is always so good to meet, you know, a person who has achieved so much and to get a few of those inputs from him.”
She praised Kohli’s ability to perform under pressure, reflecting her admiration for his approach to sports.
