The 41-year-old played 29 Tests, 120 ODIs and 24 T20Is for India in a career spanning almost a decade.
He said he never spoke ‘ill’ of any faith. Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan has spoken out against ‘fake news’ being spread in his name. Taking to Instagram, Pathan denied making any such comments and urged fans not to share anything related to him or any quotes attributed to him without verifying them. In his clarification message, the former India all-rounder blasted fake news mongers.
If the news is not coming directly from me, kindly do not trust it,” Pathan said in a statement. “Fake news is being circulated using my name, without any proof, simply to gain views. I urge everyone not to believe or share it. Pathan is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the ongoing season of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), where he is representing the India Champions.

As a result, the Pakistan team decided to withdraw from the tournament.
Sources told NDTV that Pakistan withdrew from the WCL after its demand for a written apology from the Indian team was rejected by the organisers. The PCB agreed to grant NOCs to the players despite its initial reluctance, but sought a written apology from the Indian team over its actions last season, according to NDTV sources. The WCL, however, stated that the Pakistan Champions had pulled out due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
The WCL was hit by a recent controversy after Pakistan decided not to participate in this year’s edition. The demand, however, was rejected by the WCL organisers. The PCB had also sought assurances from the WCL organisers that they would have no objection if Indian players chose not to participate in the tournament.
