Two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) runners-up Punjab Kings have commenced a five-day off-season training camp at the New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, with an aim to hone individual player skills ahead of the 2027 season of the ten-team tournament. The camp, which started on August 11, is focused purely on skill development, providing players dedicated time to work on specific aspects of their game away from match-day pressure.
PBKS’s Mixed Performance in IPL 2026
In IPL 2026, the Punjab Kings (PBKS), led by Shreyas Iyer, initially showcased a strong performance, remaining unbeaten in their first seven matches with six wins and one no result. However, the team’s fortunes took a downturn as they lost their next six games. Despite a victory in their final league match against the Lucknow Super Giants, PBKS ultimately finished fifth in the points table, failing to secure a playoff spot.
Training for the season has been under the guidance of the franchise’s coaching staff, with assistant coach Trevor Gonsalves supervising daily drills at the stadium. This setup has allowed the support staff to engage closely with players across various stages of their careers.
