Mumbai Indians Appoint Zubin Bharucha to Enhance Player Development

Zubin Bharucha has been appointed to join the Mumbai Indians (MI) support staff, focusing on strengthening the franchise’s player development strategies. His role will include refining MI’s scouting processes and enhancing year-round development programs for both men’s and women’s teams, with an emphasis on off-season skill training.

Bharucha brings a wealth of experience from his tenure at Rajasthan Royals (RR), where he held multiple positions such as Team Director, Head of Cricket, and Director of Cricket Operations and High Performance. He played a significant part in the development of notable Indian players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

As a right-handed batter, Bharucha had a playing career in the 1990s with both Mumbai and Surrey, making 17 first-class and 11 List A appearances before transitioning to coaching. His connection with RR dates back to the inaugural IPL season in 2008, where he served as Team Director until 2015.

The Mumbai Indians aim to leverage Bharucha’s expertise to further expand and strengthen their existing talent scouting network, continuing their commitment to excellence in player development.
