The family of 31-year-old software engineer Vinay Gupta, who allegedly died after being assaulted by his in-laws in Delhi’s Nihal Vihar area, has accused his wife and her relatives of plotting the killing and demanded strict action against those responsible.

The incident took place early in the morning after an argument between Gupta and his wife over a matrimonial issue, according to the family. Investigators said Rekha had switched off the CCTV camera installed inside the house before the incident. His mother alleged that the woman then called her brothers and other relatives to the house. Four people, including the wife, have been arrested by the police. “I just went to give them a glass of water. They had pinned down my boy. They threw him on the bed and grabbed him by the neck. They kicked and punched him in the stomach,” NDTV quoted the mother as saying.
