BCCI Steps In As Arunachal Cricket Crisis Threatens Domestic Season

The intervention comes after Arunachal Pradesh forfeited its opening Ranji Trophy fixture against Nagaland in Ahmedabad, following earlier non-participation in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and the Under-19 Women’s T20 Trophy due to a legal deadlock involving two factions of the Arunachal Cricket Association (ACA) in the Guwahati High Court’s Itanagar Bench. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is conducting selection trials for various Arunachal Pradesh men’s and women’s age-group and senior teams to avoid further forfeitures and ensure their participation in the ongoing domestic season.

“Yes, a notice was issued for trials for players of various men’s and women’s teams, beginning at 8 a.m. today at Delhi Public School in Itanagar. The trials are being conducted to select teams for the Senior Women’s, Boys U-16, Men’s U-23 and Senior Men’s categories,” the source said.

We are trying to ensure that teams from Arunachal participate in the Ranji Trophy and other tournaments scheduled in the coming days,” Saikia told IANS. “So, trials are going on in Arunachal with some independent selectors from outside the state. The association is not involved in these trials, as the BCCI is directly conducting them.
