The threatening emails mentioned not only 10 schools but also Diljit Dosanjh’s concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The singer’s concert is scheduled to take place on November 21. Following the threat, students were sent home early while fire department units, bomb disposal squads, and police teams were dispatched. Most of the threats were directed at schools in the western part of the city.
Several schools in Ahmedabad, as well as the Narendra Modi Stadium, received bomb threats on Wednesday.
Officials at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the largest cricket stadium in the world, said they received the bomb threat when the India U-19 and Australia U-19 teams were present at the venue. The two teams had been playing at the stadium’s Ground ‘A’ in a youth Test that started on October 4. The two teams were not playing when the email was received, as the match had ended at 11:15 am IST. Both sides left the stadium after 1 pm IST.
Gujarat Cricket Association Secretary Anil Patel told NDTV that they informed the local police and cybercrime cell upon receiving the email. Police sources told NDTV that all the emails carried one common warning: that anyone travelling to Dosanjh’s concert would not be safe.
