Delhi-NCR woke up to another spell of heavy rain on Tuesday, leaving several roads waterlogged, slowing traffic and disrupting flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
On Monday, 26 flights were cancelled, 15 were diverted and more than 390 were delayed amid the adverse weather conditions. The fresh spell of rain comes a day after heavy showers brought large parts of Delhi-NCR to a standstill, with waterlogging and prolonged traffic jams reported across the region.
Akasa Air also said severe weather conditions in Delhi had affected certain flights across its network. Airport authorities had not issued an official statement on the weather-related impact on flight operations at the time of the report. The airline urged passengers to check their flight status before starting their journey to the airport and apologised for the inconvenience caused by the weather.
More rain expected across NCR
Gurugram and Faridabad have been placed under a yellow alert, with more rainfall likely, while Noida remains heavily clouded. No specific weather warning has been issued for Noida so far. The persistent rainfall has pushed Delhi’s cumulative rainfall above normal at several monitoring stations. The IMD attributed the intense rainfall to the interaction of a middle- and upper-level western disturbance with a lower-tropospheric trough extending towards southwest Uttar Pradesh.
