Player registration for the SA20 Season 5 Auction is open, giving players in South Africa and around the world the opportunity to register their interest ahead of the October 7 event. Registrations will be open from 1:30 PM IST on Monday, August 24 for three weeks, until 8:30 PM IST on Monday, September 14, 2026. With all six franchises having finalised their retentions and pre-signings ahead of the auction, 19 slots remain to be filled on October 7 across four teams, with Durban’s Super Giants and Paarl Royals having already completed their 19-player rosters for the milestone fifth season of SA20.

Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town head into the Auction with the most to do, with each needing to fill six slots, including one Under-23 player apiece. Joburg Super Kings lead the way in terms of spending power, with $1.29 million remaining in their salary cap, followed by MI Cape Town with $580,000. Sunrisers Eastern Cape have $223,000 left to spend, while Pretoria Capitals have $91,500.
