The footage is tied to a civil lawsuit filed in Sacramento County on behalf of a 71-year-old agricultural and animal production facilities auditor, who claimed he suffered a concussion and neck injuries in the incident. A surveillance video showing an alleged assault by an Amazon delivery driver at a California gas station has gained attention online after it was shared by attorney Tony Buzbee.
The incident occurred at an ARCO gas station in Elk Grove, California , according to Buzbee. The driver was later arrested and charged with felony battery, elder abuse and other offences, according to the attorney’s social media post. Buzbee said the company should be held accountable if its hiring or supervision practices contributed to the alleged assault.
Buzbee stated that the old man had stopped during his workday to use the restroom and buy a soft drink when an Amazon delivery driver became upset, believing the older man had taken his parking space. Buzbee claimed the driver confronted the man in the parking lot before following him inside the convenience store. The cashier is heard gasping after witnessing the violent encounter. However, the footage cannot be independently verified by Hindustan Times. The circumstances leading to the confrontation remain based on allegations contained in the lawsuit and statements made by the plaintiff’s attorney. The lawsuit argued that Amazon failed to properly screen and train the delivery driver before placing him on delivery routes. Buzbee stated that the Amazon driver was taken into custody and accused of elder abuse and felony violence, among other offenses.
The civil case has been filed in the Superior Court of California, Sacramento County, according to Buzbee. He said updates on the litigation will be shared through his social media platforms.
