Vice President JD Vance addressed an audience in Middletown, Ohio, on Friday, emphasizing the negative impacts of outsourcing and foreign labor on American manufacturing. He criticized longstanding economic policies that he believes have contributed to the decline of domestic industries. Vance argued that the policies implemented during President Donald Trump’s administration are beginning to reverse this trend, highlighting a renewed focus on bolstering American manufacturing capabilities.
Flanagan was told he would receive his severance package only if he trained a foreign replacement at the bank where he worked, according to Vance. Vance said Flanagan completed the training and died by suicide on his final day. Vance said that, in roughly 18 months, the administration had seen “trillions” of dollars in new investment flow into the US for factories, mills, smelters and other manufacturing facilities.
