A tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district claimed the lives of a couple and their 18-year-old son after all three fell from a hill while the parents were trying to stop the teenager from taking his own life, officials said on Friday.
The incident took place at Khavda Hill, where the teenager, a resident of Devlai, had reportedly gone to the edge of the cliff around 10 a.m. and threatened to jump. At around 1 p.m., the father attempted to grab his son. However, both lost their balance and fell from the hill.
Police said the teenager remained on the edge for nearly three hours despite repeated attempts by his parents, locals and police officials to convince him to move to safety. Police officials were also there,” Jadhav said. Moments later, the teenager’s mother also fell in panic. Police officials present at the spot had also tried to persuade the teenager to step away from the cliff, but their efforts failed. “The parents and others tried very hard to make him understand, but he didn’t listen and kept standing on the edge of the hill. The incident was reportedly captured on video by tourists and locals present at the site.
