The Indian community in Houston marked India’s 80th Independence Day with a vibrant celebration. The event was held at the Consulate General of India, featuring a flag-hoisting ceremony. The Chancery premises were beautifully decorated with marigold garlands and tricolour bunting, reflecting the patriotic spirit of the occasion.

A prominent delegation of elected officials and civic leaders attended the event to present proclamations and extend greetings, including University of Houston Chancellor Renu Khator, Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong, Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones, Fort Bend Commissioner Dexter McCoy, Sugar Land City Council Member Sanjay Singhal, Regional Director for US Senator John Cornyn Jay Guerrero, and judges Juli Mathew and Surendran Pattel, alongside representatives for Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, Fort Bend Commissioner Andy Myers, and Houston Mayor John Whitmire.
